Aleph Lands 2026 World Cup Broadcast Rights in Philippines
Aleph, a global digital advertising firm, has secured exclusive broadcast rights to the 2026 men’s soccer World Cup in the Philippines. This deal, announced yesterday, positions Aleph as the central hub for commercializing and distributing multimedia rights for the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Mexico, Canada, and the United States in June and July.
A New Gatekeeper for Philippine Viewers
Aleph will be responsible for appointing media rights partners across all platforms, encompassing free-to-air television, pay-TV, digital streaming services, mobile platforms, and video-on-demand options. Crucially, Aleph will also serve as the primary point of contact for brands seeking advertising, sponsorship, and other commercial opportunities within the Philippine market.
Expanding Reach in a Changing Landscape
The tender process for these rights initially launched in November 2024, covering both the men’s World Cup and the Women’s World Cup scheduled for the following year. Anna Dy, Aleph’s country head in the Philippines, highlighted a shift in fan engagement, noting the increasing importance of digital content creation and real-time sharing of the sport. She believes this presents a significant opportunity for brands to connect with a more mobile and engaged audience.
Previously, Tap DMV broadcasted the 2022 men’s World Cup in Qatar live in the Philippines, while Cignal TV covered the 2023 Women’s World Cup, held in Australia and New Zealand. Notably, the Philippines’ national men’s team has yet to qualify for a men’s World Cup tournament.
Global Rights Distribution
Beyond the Philippines, broadcast rights for the 2026 World Cup have also been awarded elsewhere. Earlier this week, BeIN Sports secured the rights in France, despite competition from Ligue 1+ OTT streaming service. BeIN will broadcast all 104 games across its pay-TV channels, reportedly for around €40 million ($47.5 million) covering both the 2026 and subsequent tournaments.
