Amersfoortse Pencak Silat-vechters winnen drie keer goud in Leeuwarden (VIDEO)
AMERSFOORT The Amersfoort-based Pencak Silat association Persaudaraan Rumpun Setia Hati (PRSH) demonstrated strong performance at the Open Tournament in Leeuwarden this past weekend. The club secured three gold and two bronze medals with a select group of fighters, reaffirming its ability to compete at a national level.
Strong Showing at Leeuwarden Tournament
The tournament in Friesland featured a highly competitive field, but the Amersfoort fighters held their own. Harmjan van Kreijl delivered a standout performance, competing in a weight class two categories higher than his own due to a lack of opponents in his original weight class. Despite a weight difference of approximately ten kilograms, Van Kreijl secured a gold medal through tactical fighting, and perseverance.
The tournament also highlighted familial participation. Twin brothers Alexander and Gabriël Lamboo competed in the junior divisions. Gabriël won both of his matches convincingly in klasse I, earning him first place. His brother, Alexander, fought in klasse K and received a bronze medal after a strong competition.
Waldow Brothers Contribute to PRSH Success
Brothers Kevin and Evan Waldow also represented PRSH. Kevin Waldow, competing in the 65-70 kilogram class, won two matches with a controlled and strategic fighting style, earning a gold medal despite beginning the tournament with a cold. Evan Waldow’s tournament experience was more challenging; his opening match ended in a tie, with the win awarded to his opponent based on point deductions. He finished the tournament with a bronze medal.
Liselore Meeuwessen – Persaudaraan Rumpun Setia Hati
Liselore Meeuwessen competed in Tunggal, the stijlvormen event, delivering a technically sound performance but falling slightly short of a podium finish. The coaching staff expressed satisfaction with her performance.
With three gold and two bronze medals, PRSH considers the tournament weekend a resounding success, confirming the association’s growth and ambitions within Dutch Pencak Silat.
