Čtrnáctiletý skladatel z Opavska získal zlato v Londýně
Young performer Lukáš Bátor is quickly gaining recognition for his talents in both musical theatre and classical piano. Currently captivating audiences at the National Theatre of Moravian-Silesia in Ostrava, Bátor shines in demanding roles, including the character of Fagin’s boy, Dodger, in the popular musical Oliver!, based on the novel by Charles Dickens, and as the young Archduke Rudolf in Elisabeth.
A Rising Star on Stage and at the Piano
Bátor’s dedication extends beyond the stage. He currently studies piano at the Basic Art School in Hradec nad Moravicí, under the tutelage of Professor Magdaléna Těšíková Hrudová. He further refines his skills through private lessons with prominent Czech composer Eduard Douša.
Bátor recently entered the international British competition, London Young Musician, submitting the second movement of his “Wild Suite,” a piece he recorded in his own interpretation. The expert judging panel praised the composition’s emotional depth and skillful use of tension.
The judges commented, “The composition is lyrical, harmonically interesting and at the same time gentle. The contrasting middle section is energetic and very well captures the title of the suite. Something one can enjoy – really great work!” They awarded Bátor 92 out of 100 possible points, commending both the composition itself and its performance.
Building on Previous Successes
This achievement in the British competition builds upon Bátor’s previous successes in the Czech Republic. He has been recognized at the International Composition Competition of Ilja Hurník in Ostrava and the young pianists’ competition, Nuovo Millennio, in Valašské Meziříčí.
Professor Těšíková Hrudová notes, “I took Lukáš under my wing at the beginning of this school year. I see supporting creativity and imagination as most appropriate for him on his piano journey, of which he is full. In his own work, we also focus on the interpretive side of music, thus connecting two closely related musical worlds of composition and interpretation. I am glad that Lukáš repeatedly manages to show our work on stage, moreover, the competition jury appreciated precisely these qualities.”
