February 20, 2026 discoverhiddenusacom Entertainment

After a year’s hiatus, the European Poker Tour has returned to the Palais des Congrès in Paris, kicking off with the PokerStars Open. The event has already seen significant participation, with the first four “flights” completed. A notable performance came from Lulei Hu, a Chinese player now based in Italy, who secured first place in Day 1C.

Early Tournament Results

The official start of the Open was Wednesday, February 18th. The buy-in is 1,650 euros, with 15% of participants from each Day 1 advancing. Reaching this stage effectively guarantees a return on investment for players, a significant benefit considering travel expenses. Thursday brought initial victories: Clement Guilleminot of France won the No Limit 1.100 Single Re-Entry, defeating Portugal’s Custodio in the final round. The Mystery Bounty event was dominated by Bulgaria, with Boris Angelov prevailing over Dimitar Danchev, who also secured substantial mystery bounties.

Lulei Hu Leads Day 1C

Day 1A attracted 287 players, with 43 progressing to Day 2. Day 1B saw 139 entries and 31 qualifiers. Thursday’s play, featuring Lulei Hu’s strong performance, drew 861 buy-ins, with 128 players advancing. Day 1D had 358 players, with 54 moving forward. The total number of entries currently stands at 1,732, with two more Day 1 flights still to come. Hu finished with over 1 million chips (1,028,000), significantly ahead of the second-place finisher with 800,000. Alessio Peciarolo also placed well for Italy, finishing in the top 5 with 565,000 chips.

Did You Know? Players who advance from their initial Day 1 flight are already considered “in the money,” meaning they have secured a return on their investment.

Day 1D saw Eros Zappacosta, a specialist in both tournaments and Spin and Go games, finish 5th with 388,000 chips. The overall leader on Thursday night was Kalle Parkkinen of Finland.

Expert Insight: The structure of the tournament, with 15% of Day 1 participants advancing, is designed to reward skilled play while also providing a safety net for players to navigate the early stages of the competition. This format encourages strategic decision-making and risk assessment.
