Lunar Hotel: $10M Stay Planned for 2032 – Book Now with $1M Deposit
The ambition of hospitality is reaching for the stars – literally. A new venture aims to establish the first permanent hotel structure on the Moon, marking a significant, albeit early, step in the potential development of space tourism and off-world infrastructure.
Lunar Lodging: A New Frontier for Hospitality
Galactic Resource Utilization Space (GRU Space) is planning to construct a hotel on the Moon, with an anticipated opening date of 2032. Founder Skylar Chan indicated that while the price per night remains undefined, it could reach as high as US$10 million, equivalent to approximately Rp 169 billion based on a current exchange rate of Rp 16,902.
Potential guests are not required to pay the full cost upfront. GRU Space is offering reservations with a down payment of US$1 million, or roughly Rp 17 billion, to secure a place in this unprecedented venture.
Construction and Technology
The hotel’s architecture will utilize exclusive modular housing systems and automated processes to transform lunar soil into durable building materials. Construction is currently slated to begin in 2029, pending regulatory approvals. GRU Space intends to begin testing lunar systems in 2029 with a pressurized payload on the lunar surface.
Simultaneously, initial construction experiments will leverage resources sourced directly from the Moon. This testing phase aims to evaluate environmental conditions and mitigate risks before larger-scale missions. A larger payload is scheduled to land near a lunar crater in 2031, providing natural shielding from radiation and extreme temperatures. This payload will house systems for further construction testing.
The hotel itself will be constructed on Earth and transported to the Moon via heavy-lift vehicles. Utilizing ISRU and robotic equipment, the modular structure will be pressurized and surrounded by lunar material, designed to operate for a decade.
The Lunar Experience
The hotel is designed to accommodate four guests for stays lasting several days. Amenities will include views of both the Moon and Earth, as well as opportunities for activities such as lunar walks, driving, and golf.
