RPI Men’s Hockey Dominates Colgate, Sets Sights on Dartmouth

TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men’s ice hockey team secured a decisive 6-1 victory over Colgate on Saturday, showcasing their most potent offensive performance of the season. Six different Engineers contributed goals, highlighting a team-wide effort that propelled them to a comfortable win.

Engineers Ignite offence

Matthew Buckley opened the scoring for RPI just three minutes into the game, assisted by Filip Sitar and Ian Scherzer. Colgate responded mid-period, but RPI quickly regained the lead with a power-play goal from Luciano Wilson, assisted again by Sitar and Buckley, ending the first period with a 2-1 advantage.

The second period saw RPI extend their lead with quick goals from Tyler Wallace, assisted by Alfred Lindberg and Jagger Tapper and Ian Scherzer, assisted by Thomas Klassek and Filip Sitar.

Third-Period Surge Seals the Win

RPI continued their offensive onslaught in the third period. Rainers Rullers scored early, assisted by Dovar Tinling and Jimmy Goffredo, followed by Alfred Lindberg, who converted a pass from Goffredo and Wallace, finalizing the score at 6-1.

Sitar Leads with Three Assists

Filip Sitar led the Engineers with three assists, while Buckley, Wallace, Lindberg, and Scherzer each recorded multi-point performances. Jimmy Goffredo contributed two assists, and Tinling added one. Goaltender Nate Krawchuk secured the win with 22 saves, including nine in the first period.
