January 25, 2026 discoverhiddenusacom News

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Nevada Wolf Pack suffered an 80-73 road loss to the New Mexico Lobos on Saturday evening. Despite a strong performance from several key players, Nevada (14-6 overall, 6-3 in Mountain West play) was unable to overcome New Mexico’s (16-4, 7-2) late-game push.

First Half Battle

The Wolf Pack started strong, opening with a 5-0 lead fueled by a three-pointer from Elijah Price and a jump shot from Corey Camper Jr. The Lobos quickly responded, tying the game at 5-5, and the remainder of the first half was a closely contested affair. New Mexico briefly gained a five-point advantage, but Nevada fought back to trail by only one point, 36-35, at halftime.

Second Half Surge and Setback

Nevada came out firing in the second half, embarking on an eight-point run to regain control. However, the Lobos answered, taking the lead at the 12-minute mark. While Nevada briefly regained the advantage, they ultimately couldn’t maintain it, with New Mexico securing the 80-73 victory.

Did You Know? Elijah Price recorded a season-high six blocks and three steals during Saturday’s game.

Key Performances

Corey Camper Jr. led the Wolf Pack with 20 points and eight rebounds. Elijah Price contributed a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Vaughn Weems also added 16 points and eight rebounds. Tayshawn Comer rounded out the scoring with 13 points and four assists.

Nevada’s offense shot 42 percent from the field, 26 percent from beyond the arc, and 81 percent from the free throw line. New Mexico shot 39 percent from the field, 43 percent from three-point range, and 74 percent from the free throw line. The Wolf Pack won the battle in the paint, 32-22, but were significantly outscored in turnovers (9-20) and bench points (6-26).

Expert Insight: The disparity in bench point production and turnovers proved critical in this contest. While Nevada demonstrated strength inside, New Mexico’s ability to capitalize on mistakes and generate offense from their reserves ultimately shifted the game’s momentum.

Looking Ahead

The Wolf Pack will return home to Lawlor Events Center for back-to-back games. They are scheduled to face Grand Canyon on Tuesday, January 27, at 7:30 pm. A strong performance at home could be vital as Nevada navigates the remainder of the Mountain West schedule.
