Rimouski Casino to Support Local Youth & Education – Pro-Jeune-Est Fundraiser

Rimouski-Neigette and La Mitis are gearing up for a significant fundraising event as Pro-Jeune-Est prepares to host its annual Casino on Saturday, February 21st, at the Centre de congrès de l’Hôtel Rimouski. The event will be co-presided over by Sonia Lucas, directrice générale of the Coopérative funéraire du Bas-Saint-Laurent, and Jimmy Turcotte, directeur of iA Groupe financier de Rimouski.

Supporting Youth and Families

The Casino is a popular event designed to provide crucial support to young people in Rimouski-Neigette and La Mitis facing learning or adaptation challenges, as well as their families. Funds raised will contribute to maintaining existing services and positions within Pro-Jeune-Est.

Did You Know? Pro-Jeune-Est has been operating for 35 years and has supported over 6,500 young people with the help of more than 5,000 volunteers.

Pro-Jeune-Est’s “Antre-Classe” programme, offered at Langevin and St-Jean secondary schools in Rimouski, provides a supportive environment within or near schools to help mobilize students and prevent them from dropping out. The funds raised will also help increase the visibility of the organization and its programs within the community.

Community Leaders Rally Support

Sonia Lucas emphasized the potential within young people, stating, “I am one of those who truly believes that young people are capable of the best. They are dynamic, intelligent and resourceful. It just takes betting on their strengths and passions.” She highlighted the Casino as a way to encourage the Pro-Jeune-Est team and support the motivation and perseverance of local youth.
