RSUP Persahabatan Hosts Dengue Fever Prevention Education
RSUP Persahabatan conducted a health education session on Monday, June 8, 2026, to teach parents at the ISDB Children’s Clinic how to prevent Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD). According to hospital officials, the program focused on the “3M Plus” method and the “One House One Jumantik” movement to combat the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes that transmit the dengue virus.
The initiative resulted from a collaboration between the hospital’s Pharmacy Installation and the Marketing and Hospital Health Promotion Installation (PKRS). RSUP Persahabatan stated the program is part of its promotif and preventive efforts to raise public awareness about DBD, which remains a threat across various regions in Indonesia.
How is Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever prevented?
Participants learned that DBD is caused by the dengue virus, transmitted via the bites of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. These mosquitoes typically breed in environments surrounding residential areas, according to the session’s presenters.

The hospital promoted the “3M Plus” strategy to break the transmission chain. This involves draining water storage containers, closing water containers tightly, and recycling or reusing waste items that could potentially hold water and become mosquito breeding sites.
Who led the health education program?
The educational session featured speakers Bunga Wulandari, S.Farm., Apt, and Husna Gayo, S.Farm., Apt. Students from the UHAMKA Pharmacy Professional Education Program (PKPA) provided additional support for the event.
The program was managed by person-in-charge Dr. Fetrina Lestari, S.KM., M.K.M. Facilitation was provided by Eryuniyanti, S.Sos., M.I.Kom, Asvaweni, SKM, M.Kes, Inke Citra Maharani, S.Tr.Kes, and Jihan Herdiana Putri, S.Tr.Kes.
What are the long-term goals of this initiative?
RSUP Persahabatan aims for these preventive measures to become a cultural habit among the community. The hospital emphasized that fighting dengue requires participation from the general public, not just healthcare providers.

By encouraging families to act as the front line of defense, the hospital suggests that the chain of transmission could be broken. This approach may lead to safer and healthier environments for future generations.
