The Role of a Hospital Security Officer
The Security Officer at Houston Methodist is responsible for patrolling hospital premises, monitoring personnel, and providing assistance with personal protection, traffic control, and emergency response. Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates for this position must possess a High School diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in criminal justice, security, or a related field is preferred. Crucially, applicants are required to obtain a Texas Driver’s License within 90 days of hire and a Security Officer state license – either Non-Commissioned, Level 3 Commissioned, or Level 4 Personal Protection Officer – within one year of employment.
Additional required certifications include Certified Security Officer certification from the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI). Basic Life Support certification is preferred, but not required.
