Spain Law Firm Salaries 2025: Increases & Trends | Signium Study
The legal sector in Spain is experiencing continued salary growth, according to the 21st edition of a Comparative Analysis of Remuneration. The study, prepared by Signium in collaboration with Francisco de Vitoria University, reveals generalized increases in total remuneration across all types of firms analysed, building on previous years’ upward trends.
International Firms Lead Salary Increases
International law firms are once again driving the most significant salary increases, followed by national firms and, to a lesser extent, the Big Four accounting firms. Spanish legal boutiques are also seeing growth, though at a more moderate pace. Both fixed and variable compensation are rising across all experience levels, with the largest gains concentrated among Senior Associates and Directors, where variable pay is becoming an increasingly important component of overall packages.
Homogeneous Growth with a Focus on Retention
Salary increases for 2025 are more evenly distributed across categories compared to 2024, though initial career levels still see more modest adjustments. Intermediate and senior roles are receiving the largest increases, reflecting a strategic effort to retain experienced talent. Paralegal salaries are expected to remain stable, with slight adjustments acknowledging the role’s increasing importance within firms.
Interns pursuing a Master’s Degree in Access to the Legal Profession will find the most competitive financial offers at international firms, followed by national firms and the Big Four. Legal boutiques are improving their offerings to attract young talent, but remain below the compensation levels of larger firms.
Non-Monetary Benefits Remain Consistent
Non-monetary benefits remain stable, with medical and life insurance, alongside training and professional development programs, being the most common perks. Work-life balance policies are also important, with hybrid work models and flexible hours becoming increasingly prevalent.
Carlos Alberola, Partner at Signium, stated that the sector “continues to perform well in 2025,” and that the Spanish legal sector “has a healthy competitive structure, which is reflected in the study, where talent is as sought after as it is in large transactions.”
