Taylor Swift Challenges ‘Swift Home’ Trademark Filed by Bedding Company
Pop superstar Taylor Swift is asserting her brand protection rights, formally opposing a trademark application for “Swift Home” filed by bedding manufacturer Cathay Home. Swift’s team argues the branding could mislead consumers into believing an affiliation or endorsement that does not exist.
Trademark Dispute Details
The opposition, filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), centres on the stylistic similarities between Cathay Home’s proposed logo and Swift’s signature. Attorneys for Swift contend the cursive, calligraphic “SWIFT” in the bedding company’s design closely resembles the custom font used in Swift’s existing trademarks.
TAS Rights Management LLC, which manages Swift’s intellectual property, initiated the disputes in November 2025 and again on February 11 of this year. Filings emphasize Swift’s widespread recognition – including 14 Grammy Awards and being named TIME magazine’s Person of the Year – and the potential for consumer confusion.
Previous Agreement and Current Status
Cathay Home’s attorney, Ting Geng, revealed to Rolling Stone that a prior consent-to-coexist agreement was reached with Swift’s representatives regarding a different “Swift Home” trademark, registered in 2016 and renewed on January 23, 2026. However, the newer application, filed in May 2025, is the subject of the current challenge.
According to Geng, Cathay Home has not commercially used the disputed mark and has decided not to pursue its registration further, characterizing the decision as “commercially pragmatic.”
Swift’s legal team is requesting the USPTO deny the application.
