May 30, 2026 discoverhiddenusacom News

Two 17-year-old minors have surrendered to authorities and face accusations in the murder of 18-year-old Samuel Sumariva. The victim was shot in the chest early Friday morning while standing in front of his home in the Juramento neighborhood.

Details of the Fatal Attack

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. When two armed individuals arrived on a motorcycle at Diagonal Gascón al 2900. The assailants opened fire using a .45 caliber pistol, striking Sumariva in the chest.

Family members provided initial assistance to the victim before he was transported to the Hospital Interzonal General de Agudos (HIGA). Medical staff at the facility subsequently confirmed his death.

Did You Know? The attack was carried out with a .45 caliber pistol, and the suspects were identified as having arrived at the scene on a motorcycle.

Legal Proceedings and Investigations

The two teenagers presented themselves at the DDI Mar del Plata accompanied by attorney Mauricio Valera. Following the advice of their legal counsel, neither minor provided a statement to prosecutor Carlos Russo of the Fuero de Responsabilidad Penal Juvenil.

Prosecutor María Florencia Salas initially handled the case. However, once evidence and witnesses indicated the suspects were minors, jurisdiction was transferred to prosecutor Carlos Russo and the DDI Mar del Plata Homicides unit.

Expert Insight: Samantha Carter notes that the transfer of a case to the Juvenile Criminal Responsibility Court highlights the specific legal frameworks used when suspects are under 18, which can significantly alter the trajectory of the prosecution and sentencing.

Connections to Previous Violence

Investigations suggest the attack may have been rooted in an enmity between Sumariva, who had previous conflicts with the law, and several youths from the Nuevo Golf neighborhood in the south of the city.

Sources indicate that one of the surrendered minors belongs to a family linked to criminal activity. This individual is allegedly connected to an attack on Alan Olivares that took place on January 10 in the Nuevo Golf area.

During that January incident, 16-year-old Sergio Otero was killed by a shot to the head. While Alan Olivares was initially accused of the killing, it was later determined that the fatal bullet originated from the victim’s own side.

Next Steps in the Case

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to finalize the forensic details of the crime. The Policía Científica, through the Cuerpo Médico Forense, is expected to deliver a preliminary autopsy report in the coming hours.
