2026 Michelin Guide Florida: Orlando Restaurant Results

2026 Michelin Guide Florida: Orlando Restaurant Results

May 29, 2026 discoverhiddenusacom News

The 2026 Michelin Guide Florida has been officially unveiled via a YouTube announcement, expanding its reach to cover the entire state. This latest edition moves beyond previous concentrations in South Florida, Tampa Bay, and Orlando to include locations such as Destin, Seaside, and Lakeland.

Star Ratings and Recognitions

Sorekara and L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon continue to be the only two establishments in Florida to hold a 2-star rating. Meanwhile, Camille, Kadence, Ômo by Jônt, Soseki, and Victoria & Albert’s have all retained their 1-star ratings.

For Kadence, located in Audubon Park, this accolade marks the fifth consecutive Michelin star earned by the omakase house. Chef-owner Mark Berdin noted the achievement, mentioning the addition of another plaque to the restaurant’s bathrooms.

Not all establishments maintained their status, as Capa Steakhouse at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando and Papa Llama lost their stars. Both have been downgraded to the Michelin “Recommended” list.

Did You Know? Visit Orlando paid Michelin $800,100 to publish guides for 2022, 2023, and 2024, with an additional option for 2025 and 2026 guides costing $533,400.

Special Awards and Value Dining

Kaya has retained its Green Star, a recognition of the restaurant’s ethical sourcing, environmental responsibility, and sustainable practices. Juan Valencia of Ômo by Jônt was honored with a special Michelin Sommelier Award.

The Bib Gourmand list, which highlights restaurants offering great food at a great value, includes a diverse array of establishments. These include Bánh Mì Boy, Bombay Street Kitchen, Coro, Domu, Isan Zaap, Norigami, Otto’s High Dive, Palm Beach Meats, Smokemade Meats + Eats, The Strand, Sushi Saint, Taste of Chengdu, Ravenous Pig, UniGirl, and Zaru.

Expert Insight: Samantha Carter notes that the tension between Michelin’s prestigious branding and its lack of transparency regarding inspector credentials creates a stark contrast with organizations like the James Beard Foundation, which publishes its judges’ names. This anonymity may continue to fuel debates over the objectivity of paid-for guides.

Transparency and Industry Critique

The guide’s methodology remains a point of contention, specifically the anonymity of its inspectors. This approach differs from the James Beard Foundation, which makes its procedures public and lists its judges at the end of each cycle.

The late Anthony Bourdain previously criticized the system, describing Michelin inspectors as “utterly useless” and questioning the necessity of such validation. He suggested that the industry had moved beyond the need for this specific type of recognition.

Future Implications

Given the expansion into smaller towns, Michelin may continue to broaden its geographical footprint across the Sunshine State. There could also be increased pressure for the organization to adopt more transparent evaluation processes to align with other major culinary awards.
