Eliquis for Children: New Dosages & Reimbursement Approved
New options are now available for treating and preventing venous thromboembolic events (VTEV) in children and adolescents, ranging in age from 28 days to under 18 years. These advancements involve both expanded reimbursement for existing dosages and the introduction of four new pediatric dosages of Eliquis.
Expanded Access to Eliquis for Young Patients
Since appearing in the Journal officiel on October 7, 2025, the new pediatric dosages – 0.15mg, 0.5mg, 1.5mg, and 2mg – are now reimbursable for the treatment and prevention of VTEV. Previously, reimbursement for Eliquis dosages of 2.5mg and 5mg was extended to include pediatric indications.

The four new dosages have a manufacturer’s price (excluding tax) of €23.80 and a public price (including all taxes) of €27.73, excluding dispensing fees. The Haute Autorité de la Santé’s transparency commission determined that the medication provides an important medical service, but without any improvement over existing services (ASMR V).
Eliquis currently ranks among the top 10 most expensive medications for the Assurance maladie.

It is anticipated that Eliquis may become available as a generic medication in 2026. This could potentially lower costs and increase access to the drug, though the timing and impact of generic availability remain uncertain.
