Florida Quartet Collects CSC Academic All-District Honors
Four University of Florida baseball players have been named to the 2026 Academic All-District teams by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The honors recognise student-athletes who have demonstrated elite performance both on the diamond and in the classroom across four NCAA divisions.
recognising Excellence in the Classroom and on the Field
The recipients include sophomore shortstop Brendan Lawson, redshirt junior second baseman Cade Kurland, redshirt sophomore Caden McDonald, and junior right-handed pitcher Liam Peterson.
For Caden McDonald and Liam Peterson, this recognition marks a second-straight year of earning Academic All-District honors. These awards highlight the rigorous standards required to maintain high academic standing while competing at a national level.
Standout Individual Performances
Brendan Lawson emerged as a powerhouse in his sophomore campaign, starting 56 games and batting .312. The Toronto, Ontario native led the Gators in several categories, including 19 home runs, 68 runs scored, and a .511 on-base percentage.
Lawson, an advertising major with a 3.69 GPA, is the only Gator to advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America status. A final decision on that honor is expected to be announced on June 23.
Cade Kurland graduated this spring with a degree in finance and a team-high 3.88 GPA. A four-year starter and 2023 Freshman All-American, Kurland recorded a .994 fielding percentage and hit six home runs in his final seven games.
Versatility and Professional Prospects
Caden McDonald established himself as a premier two-way threat this past season. He posted a .319 batting average with nine home runs and 28 RBI, while simultaneously recording a 5-1 pitching record with a 3.42 ERA over 20 relief appearances.
Liam Peterson, a sports management student with a 3.62 GPA, served as a weekend starter for the third consecutive year. He ranked 23rd nationally in strikeouts, recording 111 punchouts across 84 1/3 innings.
Looking ahead, Peterson may be a first-round pick in the 2026 MLB Draft, given his consistent performance and strikeout capabilities in the SEC.
