Job Responsibilities

Term of Employment
The initial term of employment runs from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. Successful candidates may be eligible for re-appointment for up to four additional terms, potentially until age 65.
Eligibility Requirements
1. All Requirements Must Be Met
- A bachelor’s degree or graduate degree (excluding junior colleges).
- Experience in educational outreach, workshops, or similar activities.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Availability to work on weekends as required by the supervisor.
- Possession of a valid ordinary driver’s license.
- Possession of either a museum curator qualification under the Museum Law or a teaching license (primary, junior high, or high school) – particularly in fields like history, archaeology, folklore, or art history.
2. Ineligibility Criteria
Applicants must not fall under any of the disqualifying conditions outlined in Article 16 of the Local Public Employees Act, which includes those who have been sentenced to imprisonment, those dismissed from a Fukuoka City position within the past two years, and those who have advocated for the violent overthrow of the Japanese government.
3. Nationality
Non-Japanese citizens must possess a valid work visa at the time of appointment.
Working Conditions
Working Days and Hours
The position requires 20 days of work per four-week period, typically five days a week. Standard working hours are 27 hours and 30 minutes per week, generally from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM with a one-hour break, between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
Holidays
Employees are entitled to eight days of holiday per four-week period, in addition to the standard year-end and New Year’s holidays (December 29 to January 3).
Salary and Benefits
The monthly salary ranges from ¥203,435 to ¥221,390, including a regional allowance. Salary is determined based on prior experience as a Fukuoka City employee (including temporary and contract positions). Employees are also eligible for semi-annual bonuses (June and December), transportation allowances (up to ¥55,000 per month), and other benefits as stipulated by ordinance and regulations.
Leave and Insurance
Employees are eligible for annual paid leave based on their term of employment, as well as leave for childcare and eldercare. Health insurance, pension, nursing care insurance, workers’ compensation insurance, and employment insurance are also provided, depending on the term of employment.
