Latvia’s construction industry is gearing up for its 28th annual “Best Building of the Year in Latvia 2025” competition. Organized by the Latvian Builders Association and the Latvian Association of Civil Engineers in collaboration with title sponsor Ceresit, the competition invites submissions of projects completed in 2025.
recognising Excellence in Latvian Construction
The competition aims to elevate the quality of the building process by identifying and promoting the best construction projects and practices in Latvia and abroad, specifically those undertaken by Latvian construction companies. Submissions are open until March 31st.
A Broad Range of Categories
Projects can be submitted across nine categories: Residential New Building; Public New Building (with a sub-nomination for Production Building); Reconstruction and Renovation; Restoration; Civil Engineering Structure; Landscape Construction; Timber Construction; Building Information modelling (BIM) Object of the Year; and Concrete Building of the Year. Eligibility extends to projects completed in Latvia, as well as those built internationally by Latvian contractors.
A wide range of entities can submit projects, including legal and natural persons, construction companies registered in the Latvian Builders’ Register, industry organizations, project initiators, designers, municipalities, construction specialists, and even members of the judging panel.
The Judging Process and Timeline
A jury of approximately fifty industry professionals will evaluate submissions in three stages. The first stage assesses the information provided about each building. The second involves site visits and evaluations across Latvia. The final stage will feature presentations of the shortlisted buildings, open to the public. Winners will be announced and awarded at the end of summer this year.
Alongside the competition, the traditional Construction Days conference will take place, and a yearbook detailing all submitted projects will be published.
