The position, available as soon as possible, involves leading production personnel and optimizing processes within a major European steel service centre.
Leadership and Operational Responsibilities
The Production Manager will be responsible for the professional leadership of production staff, including conducting employee meetings, overseeing onboarding and facilitating professional development. Administrative duties such as vacation and shift scheduling are also core to the role. A significant aspect of the position involves active participation in the KVP process – a continuous improvement initiative focused on identifying and eliminating waste, and implementing enhancements.
Process Improvement and Safety
The manager will also focus on the ongoing development and review of production workflows, quality standards, and workplace safety protocols. Leading shop floor management and maintaining a presence within the production area are essential. The role includes serving as a technical deputy for the Production Supervisor.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Candidates must possess completed vocational training and professional experience in the metalworking sector, along with completion of a metallurgy course. Qualities such as a commitment to quality and a sense of responsibility are paramount. While not mandatory, completion of a foreman development program or equivalent experience, as well as Lean Management – Green Belt certification, are considered advantages. Proficiency in MS Office is also expected.

The position is initially offered through a partner company with the possibility of direct employment by voestalpine.
