A recent hike organized by the San Diego chapter of PasstoPass brought together individuals living with Parkinson’s and their caregivers for a successful and enjoyable outing on January 31st. Led by Paul, the San Diego Chapter Leader, the group explored the 3.7-mile Piedras Pintadas trail.
A Scenic Hike and Supportive Community
The hike took place on a warm Southern California day, with temperatures reaching the 80s. Participants described the trail as a “hidden gem,” highlighting its features such as a waterfall, bridges and a riparian ecosystem. The group consisted of an even split of five people with Parkinson’s and five caregivers.
Following the hike, the group enjoyed a treat of donuts, further enhancing the sense of community and camaraderie. Chapter hikes, like this one, are designed to encourage local PasstoPass hikers to train, connect with others, and enjoy the outdoors.
PasstoPass is continually seeking additional hike leaders to plan and organize similar day hikes, recognising the value of regional leadership in facilitating these experiences.
