Six High Point University Men’s Lacrosse Players Named to 2026 Academic All-District Teams
Six High Point University men’s lacrosse players earned spots on the 2026 Academic All-District® Men’s At-Large teams, according to the College Sports Communicators. The mid-June announcement recognizes student-athletes for their combined success in the classroom and on the field across NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, and NAIA divisions.
Who were the recognized student-athletes?
The College Sports Communicators selected six Panthers for the honor. The list includes finance majors Weston Benson, Ryan Hynes, Scott Moore, and Cole Motter, as well as Matt Lutzel, a business administration major, and Robby Lang, an electrical engineering major.

Ryan Hynes earned Atlantic 10 First Team All-Conference honors. According to the report, Hynes recorded 21 goals and nine assists for 30 points, including a career-high four goals in separate games against Delaware and Saint Joseph’s.
Defensive standout Robby Lang led the team with 12 caused turnovers. He also collected 15 ground balls, with career-highs of five each at RMU and Hobart.
What were the individual athletic and academic achievements?
Cole Motter, a sophomore, posted the highest individual GPA among the honorees at 3.98 in finance. He started 11 of 14 games and scored his first collegiate goal during the A-10 Tournament semifinals.
Weston Benson finished his career with a 3.81 GPA in finance. He appeared in all 14 games as a defender, recording eight ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Matt Lutzel, who graduated with a 3.82 GPA in business administration, appeared in 14 games with eight starts on attack. He contributed five goals and one assist while securing 11 ground balls on defense.

What may happen next for the program?
The program’s academic trajectory could lead to more players being nominated for the CSC Academic All-America® program. Given that 17 players achieved a 4.0 GPA this semester, the team may see an increase in at-large selections in future seasons.

The team’s ability to maintain a 3.68 team GPA while competing in the Atlantic 10 could potentially influence how the university balances its athletic and academic resource allocation.
