“Untitled” Summer Show 2026 – San Francisco, CA EPA (02.22.26) & (02.23.26)
The San Francisco Mime Troupe is holding auditions for its 2026 summer show, a new political play featuring original music. The auditions, designated as an Equity Principal Audition (EPA), will take place on February 22nd and 23rd, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
A Tradition of Topicality
For 66 years, the Tony Award-winning San Francisco Mime Troupe has built a reputation for creating plays that directly address current events. This year, the script is still being written, allowing the creative team to incorporate the latest developments as they unfold. This approach means character breakdowns are not yet available, as the roles will be shaped by the evolving narrative.
Audition Details and Requirements
Actors seeking to audition must contact Jed Parsario via email at [email protected] to schedule an appointment. Auditionees are asked to prepare a physical/comic piece lasting no more than two minutes, as well as 32 bars of music with accompanying sheet music. Appropriate attire for movement is required and actors should be prepared to improvise. Headshots and resumes are also requested.
Compensation and Contract
The position is offered under a League of Resident Theatres (LORT) contract, with a weekly minimum of $862, based on the 2025 rate. The production is seeking four Equity actors, with a strong emphasis on versatility. Performers should be comfortable with singing, movement, physical comedy, and quick costume/character changes.
The Creative Team
Playwright Michael Sullivan and Composer Daniel Savio are attached to the project. The director is yet to be determined but will be a member of the San Francisco Mime Troupe Collective. Lisa Hori-Garcia, Jed Parsario, Keiko Shimosato Carreiro, and Alicia M.P. Nelson (on February 22nd only) are also members of the Artistic Collective who will be involved in the process.
Performance Schedule
First rehearsal is scheduled for May 26, 2026, with the show opening on July 4, 2026, and running through August 2, 2026, with a possible extension. Performances will be outdoors, requiring actors to project their voices effectively for large audiences. The troupe emphasizes “blind casting” and welcomes actors of all ethnicities, gender identities, and ages, as well as performers with disabilities.
