A Life Remembered
Mr. McDonnell’s life was marked by both joy and sorrow. He was predeceased by his infant son, James, his parents, John and Katie McDonnell, his brother Padraic, and his nephew Eugene. Despite these losses, he built a life filled with love and family.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, and their five children: Áine, Amelia, Stephen, Eileen, and Vinny. He was also a cherished grandfather to Daragh, Katie Mai, Ethan, Seán, Rachel, David, Jessica, Mya, and Emily.

Mr. McDonnell’s impact extended beyond his immediate family. He will be remembered by his extended family including his sisters Maura and Caitlín, brothers-in-law Owen and Michael, sister-in-law Anne, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, former colleagues, and students from St. Brendan’s College, Belmullet. He was also well-regarded by his neighbours and friends.
A wake will be held at McDonnell’s Funeral Home in Belmullet on Friday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday at 12:00 noon at the Church of the Holy Family in Carne, followed by burial at Emlybeg Cemetery.
