Abandoned IDs & Bank Cards Found in Sinaloa: Investigation Launched

Abandoned IDs & Bank Cards Found in Sinaloa: Investigation Launched

January 25, 2026 discoverhiddenusacom News

A disturbing discovery near Mazatlán, Sinaloa, has prompted an investigation into the whereabouts of at least 14 individuals. On Thursday, January 22nd, identification documents, bank cards, and personal belongings were found abandoned at the Rancho Los Gavilanes, south of the city.

Documents from Multiple States

The recovered items included INE voter credentials, driver’s licenses, and school and international documents. These belonged to individuals from the State of Mexico, Puebla, Nayarit, Veracruz, Chiapas, Tamaulipas, Tabasco, and Hidalgo. The location of the discovery is near the Mazatlán airport and the city’s prison.

Did You Know? The documents included identification belonging to a woman from Tula, Hidalgo, who died in 2022.

A Deceased Individual’s Credentials

Among the recovered documents was the voter ID of Kenia Romero Santana, a resident of Tula de Allende, Hidalgo, who passed away in 2022. According to the Quadratin news agency, this raises concerns about the potential misuse of her identification. Another resident of Hidalgo, Juan Pablo Saavedra Munguía, of Almoloya, also had credentials found at the site.

CFE Workers Potentially Involved

Authorities have also identified documents belonging to workers of the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE). These CFE employees reported being robbed by an armed group in late November of last year. Some of the recovered wallets may belong to these workers, who plan to visit the Sinaloa State Prosecutor’s Office to confirm ownership and reclaim their credentials.

Expert Insight: The discovery of identification documents from individuals across multiple states, coupled with the inclusion of credentials from a deceased person, suggests a potentially complex situation that warrants thorough investigation. The involvement of CFE workers who were previously victims of a robbery adds another layer of concern.

Specifically identified documents include those belonging to Fernando Adán Calderón Hernández, Carlos Alfredo Jiménez Corrales, Hipólito Rudi Almazán Meza, Adolfo Nolasco Díaz, Oliver Gutiérrez Aguilar, Gustavo Chamorro Bejarano, Sotero Jiménez Ochoa, Luis Enrique Maldonado Santos, Manuel Peralta Vázquez, Guillermo Roberto Olán Lázaro, Sergio Antonio Sánchez, and José Luis Pérez Ballinas. Credentials for Juan Pablo Saavedra Munguía and Kenia Romero Santana were also recovered.
