TEMPE – The Arizona State Sun Devil Women’s Tennis team secured a decisive 6-1 victory over the University of San Diego Saturday afternoon at the Whiteman Tennis centre. This match marked the Sun Devils’ only home contest in February, and extends their winning record against San Diego to 10 out of the last 11 matches.
Dominant Performance in Doubles and Singles
The Sun Devils established early control by winning the doubles point. Graduate Vivian Ovrootsky and junior Emilija Tverijonaite led the charge with a 6-2 win on court one. Sophomore Lily Taylor and junior Karsyn Evans clinched the doubles point for ASU with a 7-5 victory, overcoming a 2-5 deficit.
In singles play, No. 16 ranked Emilija Tverijonaite continued her strong form, defeating No. 94 Hannah Read in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.
