Community Veterinary Clinic celebrating 1,000th spay/neuter surgery
A new veterinary clinic is marking a significant achievement in its commitment to accessible animal care. The Community Veterinary Clinic, which opened in mid-September 2025, has successfully completed its 1,000th spay or neuter surgery.
Expanding Access to Veterinary Services
The clinic was founded to address a clear need for affordable and comprehensive veterinary care within the community. Services offered include spay and neuter surgeries, wellness and preventative care – encompassing vaccinations and parasite prevention – microchipping, and compassionate end-of-life care.
A Special Patient
The 1,000th surgery was performed on Lio, an Australian Shepherd with a unique connection to the clinic. Lio was also the very first animal to utilize the clinic’s walk-in microchip services, making this milestone particularly meaningful.
Melanie Coulter, co-founder of the Community Veterinary Clinic, confirmed the demand for these services was anticipated. “It wasn’t a surprise that we’ve seen a lot of interest…people are telling us it’s needed, and they’re really appreciative that we’re here to offer these services,” she stated.
Looking Ahead
The clinic is planning an open house on February 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., to celebrate this accomplishment. The public is invited to tour the facility, meet the staff, and learn more about the range of services available. The Community Veterinary Clinic is open Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and is located at 333 Holden Avenue.
